Life affects life

Compared with living in HK, we are less busy in the UK. However, people still always have reasons to be lazy. “The weather is too cold; I don’t want to go out at night.” “It is too tired to have activities every week.” “This new K-drama is attractive, may I have some rest please?”

There are many local seniors (some of them are 70 or above) dedicated to serve God here. They may also get sick, or need to rest at home due to falls, or even need to have operations in a hospital. However, you will see them back in different activities soon. They are committed to serve God. Some of them are church leaders but they are not arrogant and are willing to prepare food and clear the kitchen. Besides, they are humble and never boast themselves for how much they have done for God. They are just working hard quietly. Due to cultural differences and language barriers, I don’t know what to chat with them sometimes, but just share a hug or greetings. Their words are full of encouragement, appreciation and praise. They are my role models, and reminding me that I should not be lazy.

Apart from the seniors, some young people aged around 10 have started helping the church to film Church News. The church leaders do not require them to have particular skills in order to take part. They have their own creativity and ideas in the production of the videos. Now people are looking forward to watching the new Church News every month. I heard that they only take 10 minutes or so to edit the video. How amazing they are! We are glad to see that the members of the Church News team are increasing. If anyone is interested, they can join the team without any interview or special skills. The service of the young people not only affects others of their age, but also encourages us, adults!

Life affects life. This is a beautiful picture. Paul says, “Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.” What gift has God given you so that you can serve today?
